Sanjaya's story

Coming from a Buddhist background, particularly inspired by his father since he was very young, Sanjaya always had a curiosity for the calmness and peace that Buddhist teaching brings to the heart. He had the fortune to closely associate with Buddhist monks and learn so much from them about happiness and contentment. Profound happiness in life comes with wisdom. Wisdom, joy, happiness, and peace that practising the teaching of Buddhism bring, he had in mind since he was young. Growing up in an environment in Sri Lanka where Buddhism was preserved in its authenticity was a blessing in disguise.

In his youth, he always had a fascination and burning curiosity about how the mind works. He always had a fascination with the calm demeanour and the great stories of Buddha and the monks. The 3 areas he was fascinated by practising and gaining into his life are the practice of dhana (generosity), seela (moral conduct), and bawana (Meditation techniques) to develop, purify mindfulness and wisdom.

The next script was possibly written for him as his passion for cricket took over everything during his teens. He became a professional athlete playing First-Class cricket in Sri Lanka and representing the national youth team to play in the Youth Cricket World Cup in South Africa. He then moved to the UK to take up various professional player and coach roles. During his time in England, he studied sports and coaching to enhance his knowledge of coaching science. He graduated in 2009 in York, Yorkshire. Living in England for about 15 years he was faced with numerous life challenges. The continuation and practice of Buddhism and meditation from his home country broke down since moving to England - life was too busy. The environment was very different. This was a major turning point in his life to seek life’s real happiness. He had a burning thirst for happiness that is more profound and life-changing. He researched a lot about life coaching and transformation after a friend of his who was trying to help him mentioned attending a life-coaching seminar.

Life in London

Meeting old friends who practice Buddhism was a turning point while he lived in London at the time this fellow countryman was introduced him to Buddhist monks who had travelled from Sri Lanka to England to teach Buddhism and meditation. After a number of years disconnected from seeing the monks, this opens the door to him again. At this point in his life listening to the teaching and practice of meditating is like ducking into the water. He became a regular at the Buddhist Monastery temple, where he met with the monks, learned Buddhism, meditated, and start developing mindfulness.

After practising for few years, he realized the profound meaning of happiness and the meaning of the saying of Buddha, "There is no path to happiness - Happiness is the path". He realized this greatest transformation by doing things daily, being happy. The key to this is doing things and being happy mindfully! This was when he realized he could be an agent of change for many people, especially those who only have limited access to the authentic teaching of meditation techniques to develop mindfulness. And to realize the life-changing meaning of happiness. This is when he set up his meditation practice and personal-coaching practice, "Happiness Is The Path".

Moving to Australia and operating from Melbourne

Sanjaya had lived in London (UK) for about 18 years until something unexpectedly unique happened in his life.

At the world's most difficult times, when the pandemic hit every corner and the whole world was at a standstill, the life of happiness led Sanjaya to find the love of his life who was at that time in Australia.

Though far apart, happiness bridged the gap for them. Having met each other and yet to meet physically, they fell magically in love with one another in the world's most perilous times.

Happiness led Sanjaya to his love; love became light, and light led him to Melbourne, Australia, from where the whole world now benefits from his long years of experience in teaching meditation and happiness.
